Social Thread

The Social Thread component brings discussions from across your website into a single, easy-to-read feed. Similar to a social media news feed, it allows members to discover, follow, and participate in conversations without navigating to multiple pages.

You can add the Social Thread component to any webpage, making it ideal for homepages, community hubs, or member dashboards. It can display discussions from a specific area or use the All option to combine conversations from across your website, including general discussions, resource bookings, and helpdesk tickets.

For administrators, the component provides a central view of website activity, making it easier to monitor discussions and member engagement.

Discussion vs Social Thread

While both components support member engagement, they have different purposes.

Discussion creates a dedicated discussion area on a specific webpage where users can start topics, reply to comments, upload files, and subscribe to notifications. Each discussion is linked to that page and follows its security settings.

Social Thread displays discussions from one or multiple Discussion components in a single social media-style feed. It helps members discover conversations happening across your website and only displays discussions the viewer has permission to access.

In short:

  • Discussion = Where conversations happen.
  • Social Thread = Where conversations are discovered.
