Relationships in Mition (Users & Suppliers)

Mition includes a flexible Relationship system that links users together and connects users to organisations (suppliers).

Relationships are foundational across the platform and power features such as:

  • Connections between members
  • Supplier membership and corporate access
  • Supplier admin controls
  • Task assignment
  • Corporate subscriptions (2026 feature)
  • Reporting and filtering by organisation

Relationships work in two primary ways:

  1. Connections (User ↔ User)
  2. Suppliers (User ↔ Supplier Organisation)

1. Connections (User ↔ User)

Connections allow users to form a relationship with other members in the platform.

These are used for:

  • Member directories
  • Social/community-style linking
  • Collaboration features
  • Blocking or limiting access

Connection Lifecycle

Connections follow a simple flow:

  • Pending → request sent
  • Confirmed → both users connected
  • Blocked → user cannot be added
  • Deleted → connection removed

Users can:

  • Add a connection
  • Confirm a request
  • Remove a connection
  • Block another user

When two users are connected, they can have discussions (text based) and it does not reveal any information about the other user, it will not show the users email address, address or any other private information.

For security, a user can block another user. This does not show that the user is blocked, they are simply not able to CONNECT.

Add a discussion component to any page you would like Members to be able to connect with each other OR add a User Directory component. If you wish to disable this feature contact us.

2. Supplier Relationships (User ↔ Supplier)

Supplier relationships connect a user to an organisation (supplier record).

This is how Mition understands:

  • Which organisation a user belongs to
  • Which supplier admins can manage them
  • Which corporate subscriptions apply
  • Which supplier resources they can access

A supplier relationship is created by adding a relationship row:

  • User → Supplier
  • RelationshipType = SUPPLIER

If the user already exists in the system, no new user is created — only the relationship is added.

Relationship Roles within Suppliers

Supplier relationships can include different levels of access.

The most important is:

Corporate Admin (Supplier Owner)

A Corporate Admin is a supplier relationship flagged with:

  • isOwner = true

This is the platform’s definition of:

✅ Supplier Admin / Organisation Owner

Corporate Admin Access (isOwner)

When a user is marked as an Owner (isOwner = true), they gain access to:

My Supplier Section

This unlocks a special area in the user interface where they can see:

  • Minimal supplier information
  • The list of connected users
  • Organisation membership controls

Corporate Admins can:

  • Add users
  • Remove users
  • Manage organisation connections
  • Assign tasks and subscriptions

This is the beginning of corporate-level management features, including:

  • Corporate subscriptions (coming in 2026)

Managing Relationships (Staff & Admin Tools)

Relationships can be managed manually by staff and administrators.

Adding Relationships via User Profile

Staff can add relationships directly under a user’s profile:

  • Connections (Friend relationships)
  • Supplier membership
  • Supplier owner access

This is useful when:

  • A user needs manual linking
  • An organisation has no domain automation
  • A corporate admin needs to be assigned

Automatic Supplier Linking (Recommended)

The easiest way to manage supplier membership at scale is to link users automatically by email domain.
